Carianne would like to welcome you to The Swans Nest a family orientated pub at Exminster near Exeter, Devon.
With over 35 years combined experience in the pub and restaurant trade we pride ourselves on providing a welcoming “homely” atmosphere in a traditional British pub providing a renowned four meat carvery roast alongside a modern bar menu and serving carefully crafted regional ales.
The Swans Nest sits in the beautiful surroundings of the Exminster and Powderham Castle marshes, an RSPB bird reserve. It is an idyllic summer setting for our outdoor events and an atmospheric but welcoming beacon on a winters evening, with its real log fire and Victorian style decor relating to the history of the pub.
The Swans Nest first opened as the Station Inn in 1876 serving the old railway station situated adjacent to our large carpark and is now Toby’s antiques emporium. The modern railway line was the original route of Issambard Kingdom Brunel’s historic Atmospheric Railway and an original pumping station is nearby as well as Powderham Castle, the Swans Nest is central for refreshment when visiting the area, particularly if love the outdoors and local history.
Situated amongst Devon’s farming communities we are able to provide a wealth of fresh ingredients, our team of chefs use local knowledge and suppliers to ensure that wherever possible we are using fresh seasonal produce, humanely reared meats and locally sourced fish from sustainable sources to provide our delicious traditional carvery and bar menu dishes.
